Healing the Parent-Child Relationship

Image
I recollect the legendary story of Pied Piper as that depicts the sentiments of today’s parents. In that story, the Piper was able to create a spell on the mice through his magical pipe. The mice without any resistance followed the Piper to the river and got drowned. Parents want their kids to listen to their every word and religiously follow their direction without any questions. Indeed in the good old days back in India, this wish of parents got fulfilled. In today’s world, the biggest complaint of the parents is that the kids don’t listen to them. The kids have a mind of their own even when they are a toddler. Then why will they use the mind of their parents? Parents want kids to take their advice because they have experience and wisdom. Unfortunately telling the kids, ‘I know better’, does not help but makes matter worse. Should parents let go of their pure wish to help kids in avoiding mistakes because they know from their experience? Ego will certainly make parents not want to ...

Healing Relationship with the Significant Other

In today’s world many people are able to afford a family vacation to exotic places. The main intent of the vacation is to build stronger relationship by spending more time with each other. The reality is quite different from it as most people end up having even more closer relationship with their devices. A restaurant is typically filled with people not in active conversation or enjoying the food, but people busy lost in their devices. Rarely will you see people conversing with each other. Even if they do it is for a short time and then they are back on their device. Sadly it might be better this way because holiday season is the peak time for filing divorces as a result of spouses spending more time with each other. Isn’t it an irony that instead of the relationship getting healed, spending time is causing divorces? We live in a fictitious world that overall relationship is okay and avoid addressing the conflicts that are growing steadily. A little time with each other shows us clear...

Healing Relationship with the Self

Technology is being used to such an extent that it leaves no room for us to have a real relationship with the self or others. Extroversion is at its peak where most people cannot be without their phone for even a second. We are constantly exposing ourselves to the outside world of objects, people, and situations. Do we realize that there is an inner world of thoughts, feelings, and attitudes? The relationship with the self is non-existent if we do not know our inner world. Sometimes the inner being becomes very loud when it is hurt, angry, or fearful. We cannot handle this chaos, as we do not know how to heal ourselves. We distract the self even more by watching a movie, indulging in some food, or letting time heal our wounds. Do the wounds really heal, or do they leave the permanent marks of hopelessness in our hearts? We are taught at Brahma Kumaris that if the relationship with the self becomes beautiful, then all relationships will automatically heal. Let's embark upon a vo...

Ego - Stops Growth and Makes us Stagnant

Many books related to self realization have been published as that is the most sorted topic all over the world. We all want to know ourselves accurately and completely. Science has helped us a lot in understanding the perishable aspect of our existence, physical body. Science explains how the body gets created in the womb, but what gives that physical body life? Is it just blood, flesh, and bones that make it a living being? Is it just the heart and brain that allow it to make decisions? Can a dead body that has blood, flesh, bones, heart, and brain make any decisions on how it should be cremated or buried? It is clear that we do not know ourselves, and Spirituality (education of the spirit) answers these questions beautifully. I have felt so light and beautiful after understanding myself through Brahma Kumaris Spiritual knowledge. That understanding is slowly helping me curb the emotional deficiency, ego. What is Ego? It is a false identification, or incorrect image of the self. ...
