Ego - Stops Growth and Makes us Stagnant

Image
Many books related to self realization have been published as that is the most sorted topic all over the world. We all want to know ourselves accurately and completely. Science has helped us a lot in understanding the perishable aspect of our existence, physical body. Science explains how the body gets created in the womb, but what gives that physical body life? Is it just blood, flesh, and bones that make it a living being? Is it just the heart and brain that allow it to make decisions? Can a dead body that has blood, flesh, bones, heart, and brain make any decisions on how it should be cremated or buried? It is clear that we do not know ourselves, and Spirituality (education of the spirit) answers these questions beautifully. I have felt so light and beautiful after understanding myself through Brahma Kumaris Spiritual knowledge. That understanding is slowly helping me curb the emotional deficiency, ego. What is Ego? It is a false identification, or incorrect image of the self. ...

Emotional Tiredness

Image
I had heard about body getting tired, but the concept of emotional tiredness was completely new to me. I was clueless that this ignorance was keeping me away from being ever hopeful and enthusiastic. Life feels so beautiful when we are living it with zeal and enthusiasm. The body might be physically tired, relationships might not be perfect, and there might be lot of challenges at work. Nothing can deter a person that is filled with spirit and passion. Emotional tiredness takes away the spirit, passion, and enthusiasm from life. Let's understand it fully and curb it so that our life blossoms like a flower and inspires others to become light. What causes emotional tiredness? Physical tiredness is caused by overworking of the body or when it is not in its natural healthy state. Sometimes even after intense body workout, we are not tired because we know that our efforts to work the body will bring results of good health. In a way, the tiredness is not experienced when we know t...

Is Attachment True Love?

Image
An analogy was used at Brahma Kumaris organization to help us understand why attachment was an emotional deficiency. Twins that are born physically attached to each other are separated by doctors through a surgery. Why? A normal life is not feasible when two bodies are attached. Even when we tie two people with a rope, they cannot function efficiently or effectively. Similarly when a person attaches themselves emotionally to another person, then it ties both and results in suffocation. We as spirits are comfortable when we have full freedom. Attachment captivates us, and it leads to worry and fear. What causes the deficiency, attachment, to emerge in us? All human souls desires love because it generates a feeling of comfort in them when they experience love. Who doesn’t want to feel comfortable? A soul has the ability to independently create love and experience love through its thoughts. We start relying on people for love when we forget our identity and its abilities. The soul fe...

Anger is not a Weapon, but an Enemy!

Image
I recollect a profound real life story that I had read in a book few years back. A teenager boy and his little sister were swinging,  and all of a sudden the 6 year old girl tried to stand up on the swing. She lost her balance and fell down. She was terribly hurt, and the brother started yelling at her for being so dumb. The girl was shocked at her brother’s temper that she even forgot her pain. The young adult later realized his insensitive and merciless behavior towards his small sister. He kept pondering what caused him to go so volatile because his little sister was just being a kid and trying new things. Just then, he recollected being yelled by his father for doing the same thing. Another realization point hit the young adult, and he ran towards his father. He comprehended that his father’s might have inherited the trait of anger from his grandfather. The boy felt that his father deserved mercy because he grew in an environment filled with anger. It must have been hard ...

Desires - Root Cause of All Emotional Deficiencies

Image
A quote from Gandhiji, ‘There is enough in the world for man’s need but not for man’s greed’ describes the content of this topic really well. Our bodies need food, water, and a comfortable place to live. The word ‘need’ in the last sentence describes the necessities of life, without which life is difficult and sometimes can even end. In essence some desires are necessities of life. In today’s world many of the ‘wants’ are described as necessities of life. Few decades back, not every family in India had a landline phone. In contrast, most people in today’s India have multiple mobile phones (private, public, office, etc). These people will try to convince you that having multiple phones is a necessity of life. Is it really? Desires in themselves are not a problem, infact they are necessary to give us a sense of purpose and direction in life. Wouldn’t life feel burdensome if we did not have a desire to live. At Brahma Kumaris, I was taught when desires shift from being a power to becom...
